ENGINEERING
TWN designs and engineers the layout of the fiber network.
There are multiple steps in the network construction and connection process. You will be notified when construction will begin in your area. Upon notification is when the Phase 2 steps (below) will begin.
TWN designs and engineers the layout of the fiber network.
Crews begin building the network backbone by installing T4 fiber lines. Miles of T4 line create a ring to connect Optical Distribution Networks (ODNs).
Crews continue mainline construction by hanging or burying fiber lines, which are then connected to nearby fiber huts.
Once network construction is complete in your area and you have pre-registered, crews will begin bringing fiber to individual homes and businesses. Your property will be surveyed to determine the best route for your fiber line and where your outside equipment should be placed.
After fiber path confirmation, your fiber line will be either buried or hung. Please note that temporary fixes are not permanent fixes. Crews will return multiple times to restore your property to its original state.
After your fiber line is installed, we’ll return to mount a small box, called a NID (Network Interface Device), on the outside of your home or business. This box holds the fiber connection.
When you sign up for TWN 100% fiber internet service, TWN will contact you to schedule your installation and help you choose a plan. During the install, crews will run a fiber cable inside your home or business and connect it to the ONT (Optical Network Terminal). When the ONT is hooked up to your Wi-Fi router, you are officially connected!
Crews will return after all construction and installations are complete in your area to begin permanent improvements to roads, sidewalks, landscaping, etc. Rest assured, your property and the surrounding area will be restored to its original state. This may take six months to one year from the time crews first arrive. We appreciate your patience.
